Before half-term, Ryan, Jack and Drew wrote a letter to our partner school in Nepal. Here is their reply: Hello Ryan, Jack and Drew, Thank you for writing to us. We liked the the second paragraph where you have written about our country Nepal. Also, we liked your invitation, but it would be very very difficult for us to go to England for economic reasons... Your 1 Pound is equal to 160 Rupees Nepali ... The normal salary of a common person is about Rs. 6000 per month which is about 38 British pounds. Only the rich business people make a lot of money. We stay at Harsha Home (https://www.facebook.com/harshahome) ... our second home ... but we study in St.Xavier's School ... we are lucky to be given scholarships. At Harsha Home we are 10 girls, from class 2 to class 8 ... We have answered your questions below: How old are the people in your class? Our ages are from 9 to 14 years. Who is the oldest person in your class called? At Harsha Home the oldest girl is Bipana Lama - 14 years old. (Photo 1) Who is the youngest person in your class? The youngest one is Torani Ghale - 9 years old. (Photo 2) Who is the smallest person in your class? The smallest person is Anusha KC. (Photo 3) Who is the tallest person in your class? The tallest person is Laxmi Ghising. (Photo 4) with best wishes The Harsha Girls ... Name Brikha Maya Tamang- Class 2 Torani Ghale - Class 3 Rejina Ghale - Class 4 Meri Maya Tamang- Class 4 Anusha K.C. - Class 4 Dolma Tamang - Class 5 Sumitra Pun - Class 6 Laxmi Ghising - Class 6 Bipana Lama - Class 7 Rama Rana - Class 8 Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic last day of term at Tanfield Comp today. The two Steves (Barlow and Skidmore) entertained us with hilarious tales from their stories. As you can see from the video below, it was a fully interactive experience, which the children raved about on the way home! They encouraged us to believe that 'we are all writers'. My favourite part was when they said that you should write about what you know: YOU! They also took the time to talk to Leah about her 100wc post. What was your favourite part? Enjoy the video below - sorry there is no sound, but I've added a Youtube clip to make it more atmospheric! Spooky Literacy Day from Mark temple on Vimeo. A descriptive recount
walking up the towering sign that read."Pitch-black world!" I entered nervously. As soon as i entered I smelled oil.The first ride I saw was Under World! To the breath tacking under world. Pushing myself to go on, I saw that there was a gap in some of the rail, outstandingly it flew across the gap safely. I dared my self to go on. It was amazing! If all the rides were rides were like this I would come here every time! continuing on, until I saw the mesmerising sign that read. "Mine ride! Into the enjoyable mine shaft." I wasn't in pressed, however it went under ground and it was huge. Excited I nervously I made my way to the probably the most daring ride ever, it was called whirlwind, whirl to the middle and teleport out, I got on the breath tacking ride, I started to whirl round the however i teleported to the entrance when I got to the middle of the whirlwind. The dark hunt. I was heading into the forest with only a dagger and a bow and arrows. I heard a big bang and I looked were it came from. Slowly the sky got darker... I started to feel excited because I thought it was going to be something huge, I was correct it was a giant grizzly bear I hid behind a oak tree and loaded by bow with a toxic arrow. I could only touch them because I had special skin. Suddenly the tree I was hidden started to move! It ripped out of the ground. When it started moving I I turned round and shot the bear with the arrow and it fell to the ground! I rang my boss and he said "well done Thunder!"
This week, we have had several awards to give out.
Blogger of the Week/Star of the Week this week is Caitlin. She not only tried the extra 100WC challenge, she also left lots of positive comments on the other class blogs and Miss Hemmings' blog. Sentence of the Week: Confused, the turtle looked around. by Jack F. I chose this because Jack began with the feelings word instead of putting it in the middle; I found his idea was more effective. Text of the Week for Big Writing this week was Ryan Swan. Catch his terrific diary entry based on the Wreck of the Zanzibar below! |
